I was looking for a camcorder that was portable and that I could rely upon regardless of the weather. I also didn't want to spend too much money, yet at the same time didn't want the picture/video quality to be awful. The Xacti VPC-E2 answered my prayers and with a great discount it fell right into my price range.
The Xacti VPC-E2 is great because its compact and waterproof. I took it for a snowboarding trip and took videos all day while it was snowing and the Xacti didn't skip a beat. The buttons are easy to use and it even comes with string attachment so you can carry it on your wrist if you'd like. There are also a decent amount of settings within the camcorder and camera settings although the quality of the "face chaser" wasn't up to par of my digital camera.
The resolution on the viewer of the Xacti doesn't have the best resolution which is the only reason I gave it 4stars, but once you load it up to your laptop or computer the resolution is a lot better and comparable to the $1000 camcorders out there.
I agree with the other reviews that the case is not that protective, but it does cover the lens part, so it does do its job.
All in all, its size is great and so is the fact that I don't have to worry about rain or snow. It's a bit pricey, but I was able to buy it through Amazon at a great price (~200). I got the white one and it does look a bit like a toy though...Get more detail about Sanyo Xacti VPC-E2 Digital Camcorder and 8 MP Digital Camera (Blue).
