I am an avid sea kayaker. I need a waterproof camera to get good photos and video for my website. I have used a Pantax Optio 6mp water resistant camera for several years to good advantage. But the Optio did not take good quality video. I have just returned from a seven day, 138 mile trip down Florida's Suwannee River. The Xacti spent the trip in the pocket of my life jacket. I shot many photos and more than an hour of video with the camera (some of these have been posted to my website Yackman.com). I found the camera easy to use, and it seems to take both good still shots and video. It's small size makes it difficult to maintain a steady video shot, but I am learning. I found the battery life to be shorter than expected, but that is probably because I left the camera on standby mode for too long.
