I purchased this camcorder on a whim, simply because it was on sale for a great price, and I was going on vacation where I would be snorkeling. The camera worked great underwater in the ocean, underwater in the pool, and splashed by water in the ocean. There are only 2 setbacks. The buttons for taking pictures and videos are small, and too close together for my big fingers, and I sometimes push the wrong button. Not a big issue on vacation, but it could be if you are trying to catch action pics. The only problem I had underwater was not being able to see the screen, so I just had to point in the direction of what I wanted, and hope. I still got some nice video while snorkeling.
